Ultrasonic Anemometer
Ultrasonic wind gauges are able to measure the velocity of the displaced air and the wind by sending an ultrasonic sound pulse from opposite transducers and comparing the displacement time of the pulse from one side to the other.
For example, if the wind blows, the time taken to send the transmitted pulse from north to south is less than south to north, while the sensors connected in the opposite direction, ie west and east, record the same speed.
